Creatives & Agencies – FAQs
Q. Who are these creative services contract templates designed for?
They're aimed at UK-based marketing, design, digital and creative businesses working B2B – for example studios, agencies, freelancers with company clients, and consultants handling branding, web, content or campaigns.
Q. How do I contract a new project using these templates?
For each project or retainer, you complete a Scope of Work — a short document setting out the services, deliverables, timelines, fees, payment stages and what you need from the client. You send it alongside your Consultancy Terms of Business and privacy notice. Once the client confirms in writing, those documents form the contract for that job. The Scope of Work is where you define exactly what's in (and out of) scope, which is your main defence against scope creep later.
Q. Do these templates protect my intellectual property and portfolio rights?
Yes. The terms distinguish between client materials, your internal tools and the final deliverables. Clients keep ownership of what they bring and, once paid, own the finished work created for them, while you retain ownership of your templates, frameworks and processes and can usually show non-confidential work in your portfolio unless a client asks you not to.
Q. Will this help with scope creep and endless revision rounds?
That's one of the main purposes of the pack. The Scope of Work templates push you to be specific about deliverables, revision rounds included, assumptions and what counts as extra work, and the terms explain how changes and out-of-scope requests will be agreed and charged. This makes it much easier to hold the line when a project starts to grow.
Q. Can I change the IP, liability or payment clauses for different clients?
You can safely adjust commercial details like project fees, invoice stages, notice periods and revision limits to match each job. But be careful with IP ownership, liability caps, indemnities and data-protection wording — these are the clauses that protect you if something goes wrong. The Implementation Guide flags exactly which clauses are safe to edit and which ones to leave alone. If a larger client pushes back on IP ownership or wants to remove your liability cap, that's the point to get bespoke legal advice rather than editing on the fly.
